The purpose of the external intrusive survey is to determine the composition of the external wall by gathering information about its structure, materials and condition. In the context of fire safety, it is particularly important to gather information regarding the fire compartmentation measures in place and the combustibility rating of the materials used. An external intrusive survey can prove that design and materials specified have indeed been used to construct the building.
Internal Intrusive Surveys
In order for building owners to comply with their duties, it may be necessary for internal intrusive survey works to be undertaken to inspect key internal fire-stopping and compartmentation elements as part of the Fire Risk Assessment.
